Environmental noiseDo you live or work in a noisy place? Do you want to cover that stressful background noise? I've found that air being pushed by fans work best to cover environmental noise, but they are not practical. If that's your case too then use Noisette. Noisette is very useful for people who want to cover the environmental noise with relaxing sounds. This is known as noise cancellation, or white noise. White noise is special because it contains sound frequencies which appear, to people, as having the same acoustic intensity. White noise sounds like a huge waterfall or heavy rain. Because of this, white noise is very effective in providing a wall of sound against environmental noise. So, if earplugs are not enough, use Noisette. For rich sound, use standalone, high quality speakers; notebook speakers are not good enough. You can use Audacity to edit and create your own audio files. For example, you can create large white noise files with it and save them as MP3 in order to play them on an external player. See here what else you can do to protect yourself from environmental noise.
DescriptionNoisette is a simple program which plays continuously white noise. You can select the noise type that you want to hear. For more features read History of changes.
Remote controlNoisette can be controlled with a Windows Media Center remote control. The "OK", "0" keys stops all sounds. The "1"..."9" keys play the sound with the specified index (in the combo-box).
Known issuesOn WindowsXP, the NAudio library causes Noisette to crash.
