The development of this program has been frozen.
Newest versionVersion 2.3.1 released on 07.02.2008, size 680 KB. It works on any Windows system with DotNet2 and DirectX 9 (or newer). You can download the DotNet2 redistributable archive from Microsoft. To install the program, just run the downloaded file.
Environmental noiseDo you live or work in a noisy place? Do you want to cover that stressful background noise? Then use Noisette. Noisette is very useful for people who want to cover the environmental noise with relaxing sounds. This is known as noise cancellation, or white and brown noise. White and brown noise are special because they contain sound frequencies which appear, to people, as having the same acoustic intensity. White noise sounds like a huge waterfall, brown noise sounds like heavy rain. Because of this, white and brown noise are very effective in providing a wall of sound against environmental noise. So, if earplugs are not enough, use Noisette. See here what else you can do to protect yourself from environmental noise.
DescriptionNoisette is a simple program which plays continuously and simultaneously up to 20 audio files. You can select which files to play, from a list of slots, and change the volume for each slot. Noisette includes a sample audio files with white noise, but you may want to add and play your own audio files. For more features read History of changes.
Custom audio filesIf you want, you can change the audio files which are played by Noisette. Simply copy your audio files in the "Noises" directory from the program's installation directory (which is usually "C:\Program Files \ George Gabriel Hara \ Noisette"). The duration of each audio file must be at least 2 seconds. Then format the name of each file to specify the order in which they appear in Noisette, like this: "Index_File name.Extension". "Index" is a number between 1 and 20 which specifies the position in the list of noise slots in Noisette, "File name" is the text which will be displayed in Noisette, and "Extension" is the file extension (like "wav", "mp3", "ogg", "wma"). Don't specify the same index for different files because only one file can occupy a noise slot. See here from where you can buy relaxing sounds.
Known issuesOGG audio files have a tiny delay when they are replayed, and this can become unacceptable. This issues is probably from the codec (MP3 audio files don't have this problem).
History of changesVersion 2.3.1 The program automatically closes when the system is being shut down.
Version 2.3 Added settings to automatically pause playing between specified hours.
Version 2.1 You can play continuously and simultaneously up to 20 audio files.
First public release of Noisette: version 1 on 21 November 2007. |
